Through the good graces of Moody Methodist Church and financial provisions from the Lord, I got to go on an amazing adventure to Life Light Ministry in India in September (2015).

Before we left we read a book called Precious Children of India by Elizabeth Ann Carpenter. I highly recommend it. In it are back stories about these kids and their new life with Life Light Ministry. It will make you cry but also be thankful for their better life with this ministry. The book delves into living conditions, the caste system, drugs, murders, how girls are treated, etc. It was a valuable book to read before arriving in India.
Our whole group was treated so well by Life Light Ministry, the hospitality there is amazing. The staff are involved in so many aspects of the community and touch so many lives. The care and attention they give the kids is phenomenal.

The kids themselves are amazing and it was a pleasure to interact with them. We taught each other words in our different languages, we taught each other our different dance styles, and we taught each other different games. Our group also taught a vacation bible school lesson. On our last night the kids gave us henna tattoos (we stayed at the children's home).

As a group we got to visit the school that Life Light helps, we taught those kids about hygiene and good hand washing practices, as well as CPR. We also touched on the pollution there and how to lessen it.

We went to a leper colony and ate food with them. *The group headed out to a small community to have worship and pray. We attended church services and spoke some of our testimonies.

This trip was a great bonding experience with the locals, the staff, and the kids. I will never ever forget those kids ♥ they are so genuine and loving.

As an added bonus, we were taken to a few sites around the city such as the Ellora Caves. We took a trip on our last day to the Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is unreal in person, the history is amazing as well as the construction and detail. The night before our flight out of India we found a restaurant and shopping area that had quite a few Americans, so that was neat to see.

There was definitely a learning curve while we were there- a different culture and a different way of life. I'm amazed by all of the facets Life Light Ministry is involved in and I like reading their Facebook posts about the goings on with the Ministry and India in general.
*I sadly couldn't attend the community worship night as I was sick. In hindsight I probably should have gone to the hospital. One of our group members did go to the hospital and had a pleasant and cheap experience- good to know for future travelers!
